With over £50,000 worth of prizes including foreign travel and the latest professional-level photographic equipment, it regularly attracts over 10,000 images a year from photographers in more than 45 countries.

TPOTY is backed by household names in the photographic industry, and a range of travel experts who between them ensure that the travel element of the TPOTY prize package is mouth-watering.

TPOTY is open to anybody, amateur or professional, and there is a special category for the under 17’s – Young Travel Photographer of the Year – and a New Talent category, designed to start or give a major boost to a fledgling career in photography.

Previous winners of TPOTY have seen their images showcased at TPOTY exhibitions at Olympia, the NEC and London Eye, featured in the Journey series of books, and publicised in photographic, travel and lifestyle media across the world.  As a result of the exposure achieved through the competition, winners and other entrants have achieved commissions and print sales.

For 2007, TPOTY has introduced a new element to its website www.tpoty.com –
a Travel & Photo Zone which contains news, features, technical hints and tips and product and destination reviews for the travelling photographer. The website also contains the Photography Course Zone, giving full details of the UK and overseas trips organised by TPOTY and its expert tutors.
